IBPS Clerk Syllabus for Prelims 2017
Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts Common Written Examination (CWE) for the selection of candidates for the post of the Clerical Cadre. IBPS Clerk is conducted in 2 stages- Preliminary Exam and Mains Exam.

Candidates qualifying IBPS Preliminary round will be eligible for IBPS Mains round. IBPS Clerk Preliminary examination will take place in December. IBPS Syllabus will help a candidate in getting more clarity about what to study while preparing for it.

The syllabus for IBPS Clerk Main Prelims comprises chapters from the basic i.e. class 1- class X level. Here are some highlights of the syllabus which is given below:

1)There are three sections in Prelims i.e. English, Numerical ability and logical reasoning.
2)There are total 100 questions.

3)Each question carries one mark.

4)English section carries 30 marks.

5)English section consists of reading comprehension, error spotting, synonym/ antonyms, blank filling etc.

6)Numerical Ability and Reasoning section carry 35 marks each.

7)Numerical ability section covers mathematical topics such as distance & time, profit & loss and data interpretation etc.

8)IBPS Clerk Reasoning section includes topics such as coding- decoding, blood relation and linear sitting arrangement etc.

IBPS Clerk Syllabus for English

English section is designed to check a candidate's knowledge in Basic English language. English section will focus on questions based on vocabulary, proficiency, rearrangement and English usage. Given below are some of the topics, which are included in IBPS Clerk English section are:

English portion basically contains fundamental concepts of grammar, vocabulary questions and the comprehension (analytical and reading). Most important topic in this section is Reading Comprehension which usually carries 10 marks (10 questions).The recommended books to study for IBPS Clerk English section are:

IBPS Clerk Syllabus for Numerical Ability

Numerical ability covers the questions from mathematics section. The syllabus for this section has basic mathematics taught from class 1st to 10th. Sometimes, questions are tricky so a candidate should have a proper understanding of all the concepts which are required. The table below provides the syllabus of Numerical ability:

Preparation Books for IBPS Numerical Ability

This is the trickiest and time-consuming part of all the section. Questions include elementary mathematics, commercial mathematics and mensuration. The section needs more practice as it comprises of short-cut tricks and formulas. The best-selling Numerical ability books are:

IBPS Clerk Syllabus for Reasoning

IBPS Clerk Reasoning section tests a candidate’s approach to solve a problem in a logical way. Questions are general but sometimes applying the shortcuts or proper knowledge of such questions can save your precious time. The topics included in this section are tabulated below:
